Static Movement
Art exhibition - Screen printing
How do you create the feeling of movement from a static image? This is the subject that is explored in Static Movement.
Through the simple use of colour gradients and repeating patterns the viewer's eye is taken on a journey through architectural compositions where geometric lines combine and vibrate coming alive on the paper, showing something new each time it is viewed.
Each composition shows a moment as the viewer walks through the series; minute changes in colour blends, line thickness and position related to visual depth, space and layers. The controlled colour palettes of magenta and deep blues feel constraining at first but show us a harmony through ever changing shades and blends.
The industrial process of screen printing is brought back to a human scale, where each hand made print is unique and individual.
